As Open MPI has been the MPI standard at ACENET for some time we
intend to remove legacy MPICH installs within the next week. If
you have any concerns or need help rebuilding your applications with
Open MPI, please [[Ask Support | contact support]] and a Research Consultant
will be happy to assist you.
PLACENTIA ALTERNATE HEAD
------------------------
As part of our effort to resolve performance issues with Placentia's
head node, we are making an alternate head node available which should
be used for certain I/O-intensive tasks. Please read
for instructions if you use the Placentia cluster.
CHORUS DECOMMISSION

A reminder to our users that we will be retiring Chorus at UNB on
June 1, 2010. Please ensure your data is copied off Chorus before it

MAINTENANCE OUTAGES ------------------- PLACENTIA January 28th, 2010, from 7am to midnight NFLD FUNDY February 9th, 2010, from 7am to midnight ATLANTIC INFINIBAND PERFORMANCE ON ACENET -------------------------------- At the end of 2009, ACENET deployed a high bandwidth, low latency Infiniband interconnect at Fundy and Placentia. Sergiy Khan has written a report demonstrating some impressive performance increases now being experienced by users, without even needing to recompile code. For example, a GROMACS user running 32 processes could see a 6x performance increase.
